Topic category: Feature requests and ideas for MCreator
Hello,
I had a question about the current plugin distribution system in MCreator and whether there are any plans to evolve it.
At the moment, installing plugins requires downloading them from the website, placing them manually in the plugins folder (or loading them through preferences), and restarting the IDE. This works, but it can be a bit inconvenient when trying to discover or test multiple plugins.
Because of this, I was wondering whether a built-in plugin manager inside MCreator has ever been considered. Being able to browse, install, and update plugins directly from the IDE would make the workflow smoother and improve accessibility, without changing how plugins are developed.
From a technical perspective, this could rely on a simple registry or API based on the existing plugin listings on the website, exposing basic metadata such as version compatibility and download links.
I’m mainly trying to understand whether this kind of integration fits into MCreator’s long-term direction. If it’s not planned, knowing whether that’s due to technical, maintenance, or design reasons would already be helpful.
Thanks for your time and for your work on MCreator.
