Cannot add item/tool recipe. (EDIT: Cannot add items either)

Sorry if I'm just completely missing something obvious here, but I can't seem to be able to add recipes for my tools. The tools themselves work, but the recipe doesn't, in fact trying to add the recipe just gives me this error:

I'm trying to add an emerald pickaxe recipe, by the way. It's exactly how you'd imagine it.

QUICK EDIT: I can't seem to be able to add items, either? I can add tools just fine, but custom items don't seem to work, I get an error after the console attempts building.
