That would seem harder than just creating a gui. For example, if i put an item (like cake) in the crafting table, it wouldn't be able to output all the resources. Therefore, you can only really make a gui. Unless you only do it with single-material items.
You could make a custom gui in which you put in an item, and it will output the according materials.

When you make a cake, you get the buckets placed back into the crafting menu. And you also get get the cake. I can send a video if you’d like.
