When trying to install it, the installer gives me errors about being unable to right to files, like java.exe for example. I clicked on "ignore" for all of these, and when launching it, it is stuck on "initiating connections".

I found the culprits with Task Manager. LibericaJDK whatever that is, and a few other things with JDK in it.
the same thing happened to me, i tried to find an older version(1.9.0 precicely) but i couldn't find that either.
update: found a downgrade to 1.9.0 here: https://mcreator.software.informer.com/
