I'm working on a mod that adds a cowboy hat to Minecraft and when I tested it the entire model covers my player head. I of course want it to only cover the top of the player head, but I have no idea how to make it do that.
If your entire texture template is colored it might be coloring in the armor helmet texture that would be used on a vanilla template. You should try just texturing the hats texture. This happened to me too because I usually fill the entire template.
