What do the different sound categories mean?

Just as the title says. I've made some custom sounds and am wondering what the different categories (Master, Ambient, Player, Neutral, Hostile, Block, Record, and Music) mean. I think it has something to do with the source and volume, but I'm probably wrong, and explanations/notes for each type from those that do know would be appreciated.

Ah. Makes sense, I guess I was attributing them to mean more. Thanks for the reply!

The sound category is mainly purposed for that you can turn each one down individually (except Master, since that goes over every other sound "channel").
As such, it tends to be quite annoying if you put all your hostile mob sounds in Master, as people might want to turn hostile mobs down, and it's a good practice to sort your sounds accordingly :)
