Trying to make a soccer ball

The title quite explains it, I'm trying to make a soccer ball, I know I'll have to make an entity and I have some ideas on what to do but I'm asking if anyone already did it or knows how to do it. What I want to have is the ball to go in the direction the player is looking or facing when colliding with him.
