Drop Items from container that is used during crafting

I have a backpack item that holds items perfectly fine, but for the upgrade i would like to be able to either transfer the items within to the newly crafted version of the backpack or the items to drop onto the ground or enter the inventory or make it unable to be used in a crafting recipe. If it is at all possible to have any of these 4 things happen please lmk how i could do so. The Small backpack item is in a crafting recipe for a medium backpack and so i need to be able to do any of the 4 things I asked.
