Locate biome does not work with custom biomes

I'm not sure if this is just an issue with the custom biome I'm testing, but I can't use the /locate biome command to find it. It works with all vanilla biomes, but not my custom one. I also can't find it naturally in the world despite it having a high chance of spawning, but I also didn't look much since the chunks barely load for some reason (despite it working perfectly fine in normal vanilla). Anyone have any solutions?
