I can confirm this with the following particle types:
- REDSTONE
- FALLING_DUST
- ITEM_CRACK
- BLOCK_DUST
- FOOTSTEP
- BLOCK_CRACK
The problem is these types require additional metadata to work such as type of redstone particle, type of item for item_crack particle and so on.
