Topic category: Troubleshooting, bugs, and solutions
I don't want to open the issue tracker to check if others are having this problem too:
When I create a living entity and set it to go somewhere, be it follow the player to attack or follow an item in player's hand, the mob seems to get stuck spinning for a while.
Also, when the mob is walking towards a standing player it walks fine, but every step the player takes makes the mob spin and sometimes walk backwards.
So the result is, when a player is fleeing from the mob, it starts spinning and walking in the wrong directions, walking sideways and generally not looking to the player.
I had this problem with a lot of different entities and it became really noticeable when I went to test them in combat conditions. I don't know if it's the order the AI tasks are set, but I tend to place (from top to bottom) melee damage, then attack entity, then walk around, then look around.
Would like to know if you're having this problem too
mob pathfinding uses default vanilla behaviour, and sometimes vanilla mobs have these kind of bugs, so I guess it's unfixable.

Should be fixed in the later versions of forge but I digress
Mine just stans there and attacks when you get close
