Windows defender prevented new version of mcreator from installing, and virustotal detected a virus in it? https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/64c90cbd95b40317922fa78f32866a6aaf0f47176760bc2c80e76e125b00b163/detection is there any particular reason or is it perhaps a mistake?
It's fine, it only says that because it is a .exe file.
not sure that explains the virustotal result though?
AV can do false positives. All releases get scanned with professional Kaspersky AV.
I wanted to install mcreator 2020.5 i clicked on EXE Installer and it said mcreator 2020.5.exe was blocked as it could harm your device
Please read https://mcreator.net/install/windows
Windows Defender is EXTREMELY accusing. On my pc, it calls almost all exe files "harmful" Even the badlion client exe. MCreator is safe and will always be.
DeadRaider you should bite your tounge, since anyone can easily put a virus in here that can’t be seen. For now, it’s safe though, but don’t assume it is, if it comes up positive on one virus scanner that’s not very good then run it on another
If anyone has trust issues, go to https://github.com/MCreator/MCreator and build MCreator yourself from the source.
Keep in mind all binaries for MCreator are scanned with enterprise-grade paid antivirus software I pay solely for the purpose of MCreator.
When I got Mcreator exe version, it said "SmartSceen couldnt decide if its safe to run it"
Later i got the ZIP, and it worked fine.
its safe to run it.
although my Windows Defender never alerted it as a virus though.
not sure why?
It is a false positive detection
you need only to press button more information and then press keep(or something like it), i am bad on english
you can easily bypass it and press install anyways.. It says that cause you downoaded it from a browser and its and exe. file
wish me luck, i hope my pc wont explode like a nuke, i really want to make custom structure, ...
