MCreator stuck on Gradle task: runClient after upgrading mod's Minecraft edition from 1.12.2 to 1.15.2

Hello devs

I am using 2020.5 MCreator. The mod workshop I initially loaded is designed for Minecraft 1.12.2 forge. The 1.12.2 workshop is supported by its Minecraft Forge 1.12.2 Generator plugin.

When I tried to upgrade the initial mod to 1.15.2 edition it first tells me to refractor the whole thing. I clicked 'Refractor' and it instantly finished refractoring, and its kinda unnatural, but anyways... (At that point I checked the workshop setting and the mod is already set to support 1.15.2.)

Anyways, I then clicked on Run to test the environment. It is at this point that the whole Gradle program got stuck at this Console State:

Executing Gradle task: runClient
Build info: MCreator 2020.5.47520, forge-1.12.2, 64-bit, 16222 MB, Windows 10, JVM 1.8.0_265, JAVA_HOME: C:\Program Files\Pylo\MCreator\jdk

I left it to process for almost 2 hours and it still has not completed the Gradle task. The test Minecraft environment does not pop up at all.

What is the solution??

I have to achknowledge that I am using a slow harddisk and my CPU is kinda slow too. And the mod got like 747 mod elements. Like that is a lot of stuff right??

Ok I solved it. When you are…

Ok I solved it.

When you are upgrading from 1.12.2 to 1.15.2 java edition, you first cannot use 2020.5 MCreator to refractor your mod straight away in the first place.

Instead, you need to download 2020.2 MCreator and use the built-in 1.12.2 Generator there to upgrade it to 1.14.4 first.

Then go back to 2020.5 MCreator and upgrade from 1.14.4 to 1.15.2 java edition.

Keep in mind that you should always export the MC workshop into a sharable zip file for the ease of importing the workshop back again for keeping backups of the workshop files and maintaining data integrity.
