How to make a armor that covers compleatly the player (like a skin)

I´m starting making a mod about anime  and videogames characters and that and I want to know to make a armor set that compleatly covers the player, like it was a skin.

Here's what I would do.

Grab your default armor and a painting program. how it works is the helmet, chestplate, and boots are on one layer, while the leggings are on a second layer. You can go in and texture these the way you want them. if you have a model of what you want made in novaskin or something, you can edit a texture you import by editing it in the resources tab.

What this does is you can edit the texture, resulting in a encased armor piece.
