Topic category: Mod design feedback
For nearly two years, I've been steadily developing an ambitious mod to add some life to the underground! This mod now has over 1,000 elements, including 250+ blocks, 130+ items, 9 armor sets, and nearly 30 mobs.
Since testing everything in this mod for bugs and gameplay balance on my own would be extremely difficult, I'm calling for anyone who is willing to try it out and give some feedback! Bug-squashing in creative is appreciated, and testing it out in survival mode to get a feel for the natural flow and progression of the mod is also very valuable. If there are any visual or balance changes you think would be appropriate, let me know of those as well!
This mod is fully Just-Enough-Items compatible, including with custom crafting stations. So I'd strongly recommend it in order to easily experience everything Caves of Cobalt has to offer!

KNOWN BUGS / NEEDED CHANGES:
- [Bug] Baby Zombies turn into adults when killed with Rot.
- [Bug] Dwarves turn into Zombie villagers when zombified.
(For Forge 1.15.2)
Could you upload in imgur gallery of screenshots from the mod? I may be able to give some constructive criticism on the textures or looks if wanted.
Alright. Some screenshots of a few things in the mod have been compiled into a little album on Imgur. Thanks for the suggestion!
From the screenshots of your mod, your mod looks great! I do not see anything that should be changed.
Thank you! I try to make everything as polished as possible, but there are a lot of gameplay aspects and bugs that I just won't be able to find on my own. Not to mention this is also my first project with Java programming.
While I appreciate the feedback on the aesthetics, I am more-so looking for people to find bugs and suggest balance changes so I can improve the polish in the mechanics of the mod as well. I've updated the title of the post accordingly.
WOW, this mod is insane! I would be more than happy to beta test it for 1.15.2! I think this is a perfect example of exactly why mojang should start taking a bit of inspiration from the modding community!
Thank you very much! I tried to make this mod feel like it could loosely integrate with Minecraft's existing progression system/mechanics, because I love Vanilla but feel that caves are a bit lacking, even in the 1.17 snapshots.
Also thank you for showing interest in beta testing! If you find anything, I will be sure to include you in the credits on the mod page! :D
Okay Sounds Good! Where can I download and test it!
I believe I will try this mod, it looks very cool to me and I believe it could win MOTW. On the contrary, I correct myself: it has already won😀. I'll let you know below if there are any bugs or things to fix.
I tried the mod and I have to say it's epic. The 1.17 is nothing in comparison. But while exploring, I noticed some bugs:
1- the small caves that contain earth and flowers can pierce the bedrock becoming dangerous (if you want a tip instead of dirt put a custom block like grass)
2- the textures of the mobs (which are fantastic) are glitched and you can see through them
3- Baby zombies turn into adults when they rot
4- the fog of the cave biomes is bugged and wrapped in an x-ray effect on the mobs making them see through the other blocks.
5- the dwarves when attacked by zombies become zombie-villager, so I suggest you put a dwarf-zombie type mob.
For the rest it is fantastic.
Nevermind I've got it I'll test it now
Okay I've tested it and I have some things to say,
Wow, just WOW this mod really delivers and I can see all of your hard work has payed off! This mod is single-handedly infinitely times better than the cave update so far. You have managed to give a feature/use to almost every aspect of your mod which is great! I agree with what MrD0nny had to say and I have so far come across one bug that he didn't list. I started to play the underworld music disc (great track by the way, absolutely love it) and I took it out of the jukebox and it was still playing. I did it in the underworld cave biome so I thought that's what was wrong but it kept playing even though the music box was destroyed. Other than that the mod is great and if I find anything else while playing this I will post it here.
How have you done the underground biomes?
Theres 2 more bugs:
When i go into spectator mode to see the cave i just fall into the void.
if i go far into my world everything just turns black.
can i test it
