I want to drop an item I made, and have something happen when the item touches a water source block.
Before settling on doing this through dropped items, I was trying to use a ranged item, which has a trigger for when the item hits a block. But a normal item doesn't have this.
Even if it did, I struggle to figure out how to determine if the block at the gem's current location is a water source. I looked through numerous posts in this forum, but no one ever seems to have gotten an answer. I've also been looking through the code blocks, but can't find anything of use.

I would so appreciate such tutorial. I try to make item un-destroyable, but without such detector I feel like it will be tough to even try reaching that goal.
Wishing us all good luck ^^
Yes please, it would. <3
Hello? O.o
Unfortunately I already knew about doing it that way. But I need the player to be able to stand on dry land and chuck the item into water. :c
Thank you for your help anyway though. <3
I haven't tested this, but I believe this may work?
My thought was that since an Item is an entity, and there is a trigger for an Item being dropped, this might work?
I know I'm 2 years late, but for any future peoples...
He's the messiah!
I don't exactly know why, but the procedure Big Martin posted does not work. I am trying to make sodium, where if the item touches water, it explodes, and I've used Big Martin's procedure, but it doesn't work. It doesn't even work with a vanilla item.
Here is my procedure:
