My custom tree structure sometimes spawns slightly cut off and above ground
Mon, 12/13/2021 - 14:43 (edited)

Hello, I followed the structure import instructions and managed to get the tree to generate, except I have found a couple trees that are slightly cut off or they spawn slightly above ground. How can I fix this?

Give a negative value on the spawn height (of 3 or 4) that will make it in the ground, also it looks like the tree is too wide. Chewdog mentioned a procedure that you could try.

I tried it for my oversized structures, and it worked.

Could you explain why the tree is too wide? I was trying to figure out whether you meant I didn't set the right boundaries but it turns out minecraft literally refuses to save anything bigger despite expanding the boundaries. I don't understand why it cuts the tree off when it's not even at 32x32x32, and yet there's this info on the wiki on structures:

Structure blocks allow to create structures of 32x32x32 blocks. However, since Minecraft 1.16.x, Mojang has increased the maximal size for 48x48x48 blocks.Follow the steps below to build and export your ".NBT" structure file.

Also, unfortunately lowering the height coordinate did not fix it, I still find trees like this:

Update: I'm not sure what influences this but it seems like the reason the trees get cut off sometimes is because it hits a chunk border. Surely there's a way to work around it if the structure is not even 32x32x32 in size?

@engrishLINGLING when spawning, delete the grass block and select dirt/combined with the -3 or -4 at Y. I did it for a Christmas forest biome, they all worked fine. That will force the tree (structure) to spawn deeper and not on grass. It cuts off parts of your tree, because although the structure block allows a maximum of 48 x 48 x 48 ... the chunks are less. Reason why I suggested the procedure that Chewdog created, because it creates a slight delay which helps a lot. I know it is difficult at first, just watch the video several time in order to understand it. Also, he added the procedure's download in the description.
