[UNSOLVED] Custom block does not replace Leaves block
Sat, 12/11/2021 - 20:31 (edited)

Hello there!
My problem is that the custom block I made does not actually replace selected block in replace option (further below).

Dimension is set to "Surface"
Blocks can be replaced are set to "Oak Leaves"
No restriction in biomes
Average amount of group per chunk and block in a group are set to 25
Minimal and Maximal generation height are set to 20 and 150
No additional generation condition

Here I got stuck and do not have any idea, why it actually does not work.
Any help would be appreciated!

Here are things that you can try

  • Try adding all of the leaf block types to the Blocks this block can replace option and see what happens.
  • Try going far away from spawn, it might not be generating because the chunk you're in was loaded before you added the custom block.

Also, could you send a screenshot of what you're custom block looks like?

Firstly, thank you a lot for your answer!

I tried adding more leaves that my custom block can change, it didn’t work. And for testing custom blocks and other stuff that I add I usually create new world after each time I enter the game. But nevertheless I did fly away as in a world with „default“ settings, and in a world with only one biome generated (I chose „Forest“, because there was highest frequency of Oak Trees).

What else have I tried:

1. Changing max and min heights;

2. Changing restrictions in biomes;

3. Changing blocks my custom block can replace to every log.

4. Adding a „minecraft:leaves“ tag to my custom block.

5. And the last but not least, creating another custom block with default settings.

My first custom block which I want to replace Minecraft leaves was „Infected Oak Leaves“, which had Oak Leaves texture and really noticeable red dots. But, I am pretty sure, that that’s not the case, because I tried to change this texture to completely white block and nevertheless didn’t find any of my custom block out there.

Here are my thoughts…

I guess, it could be possible that Minecraft Leaves blocks are actually irreplaceable because of their attachment rules to Log blocks and „decay“ thing or it messes up with setting of my custom block, I don’t really know.

What I would do now, I would actually check all parameters from scratch, what means, I will create some „custom ore“ and play a bit with settings, checking how frequently my „custom ore“ spawns and which blocks it actually replaces more and which not at all. Then I am going to change some parameters with each time and see, what could be the problem, because as far as I can see, no one has encountered such a problem before.
