And also the fences attach to blocks and gates but not themselves, as in the generated ones
For the fences, I think you just need to override the Minecraft 'fences' tag to get the fences to connect to each other- I'm not exactly sure, but I know it's possible. You might have a similar problem with leaves where you need to override vanilla tags to get the leaves to consider your custom logs as a valid wood block.
