Preserving blockstates and models

Is there a way to lock down blockstates and model files? I forgot to make a backup of the folders before I did a rearrange in creative tabs and didn't realize it was going to re save all the blocks. Allll my blockstates and model changes are gone, I have hours and hours of work to redo. So how can I lock down the blockstates and models so they don't get overwritten to default? In the end it was my fault but I hope there is a way.
