how to edit elements in vanilla minecraft?

i wanted to make some small changes to vanilla minecraft like enabling diamonds to be used as an efficient fuel like the lava bucket, or letting the enchanted books turn into ordinary books after ther're used on an anvil. i did find the way to add fuel items or to add items that won't be consumed in crafting, but mcr didn't seem to have the function to do similar changes to vanilla items...any way to do this? plz help me guys i am a beginner and i couldnt find anyone to help me ;-;
