Clarification on an error and gradle clearing

So, I had an error appear when joining a world with my mod, saying that there was an error in selected data packs (i am working on a mod). I looked up a solution for this error, and it said to delete the gradle. I am unsure what effects this may have, and was wondering if there was another solution to my problem. Thanks! :)
