New Workspace Fails at Last Moment! Importing Gradle on Mac

Help! I'm experiencing the same repeated error. A new workspace is almost set up but then MCreator fails and closes right before the new workspace lanches. It says "Build complete" or "build successful" (I'm not sure which, because the moment happens so quickly) while it says "importing gradle" and then it quits unecxpectedly. I'm using a 2023 Macbook Pro, for reference. It won't let me reopen the workspace afterward either, although the workspace is listed in my lefthand navigation. If I click on it, MCreator quits unexpectedly (again and again and again). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm hardwired to fast internet, firewall/security is off.
