Whenever I create a mod my textures and name for items looks like this, with the weird symbol in the middle.
I have tried exporting the mod and reinstalling mcreator but it still won't work.
Using version 1.7.5
Could it be possible that the name you gave it is similar to the Minecraft name and it was given another name to prevent conflicts in forge set up?
Nah because I tried different weapon types and still nope
