What about, alongside have an option to create a 'Block', also have an option to create a 'Special Block'? You'd be presented with a list of different block types, and then you'll be asked to add the amount of textures asked for and the size of the texture.
This would support block types such as:
Slabs, Stairs, Glass Panes/Iron Bars, Doors, Trap Doors, Fences, Fence Gates, and Walls.
They would act exactly like their vanilla counterparts, just with different textures. All or most combatible of the configs available when creating a normal block would be available here as well.
I'm not an expert, but I don't see how it would be so difficult to use code that is already in the game.
You can use Cubic studio lite, it's free and comes with MCreatoe. You can make custom block models with it.
Yes but they wouldn't act as they do in vanilla minecraft.
Slabs wouldn't turn upside down when placed on the upper part of a block.
Stairs wouldn't face different directions depending on what way you're looking when you place them and wouldn't turn upside down when placed on the upper part of a block.
Glass Panes/Iron Bars would just be an absolute pain to make as you'd have to add a ridiculous amount of blocks and procedures.
Doors would just be an absolute pain to make as you'd have to add a ridiculous amount of blocks and procedures and wouldn't face different directions depending on what way you're looking when you place them.
Trap Doors would just be an absolute pain to make as you'd have to add a ridiculous amount of blocks and procedures and wouldn't face different directions depending on what way you're looking when you place them.
Fences and Fence Gates would just be an absolute pain to make as you'd have to add a ridiculous amount of blocks and procedures.
Walls would just be an absolute pain to make as you'd have to add a ridiculous amount of blocks and procedures.
