I thought there should be a thing where you could have more than 1 skin for 1 mob. So like, if a mob spawns, they'll get a random skin chosen. I thought it might make more variation. Sorry if this isn't possible or is, I haven't gotten on here in a while. Not very active.

maybe you could make it so there are two seprate mobs which work exactly the same
In my mod, The Crystallia, I've been adding these cute little creatures called Pygmy Ents! They all share the same model, shape, behavior... you name it! All that's different is their textures. Some mimic birch while others mimic dark oak~
Basically to get this, as ultraquid had suggested, just make multiple mod elements for the same mob, and just give each one a different texture!
(I'd like to add though that this will become much easier in MCreator 1.9.0, where we will have the ability to simply duplicate mod elements. As it is now, you'll have to remake the element from scratch for each mob variation ^^;)
do they share the same spawn egg?
hey its been a year wheres my answer
you can create seperate mobs with their own skins then make a procedure which uses a randomizer(you can make the other mobs have no creative tab )
hope i have no mistakes
still waiting on that answer
