It'd be cool if you could set blocks as wood in the element editor so you can easily make new wood variants and have them work for wooden tools, etc.

Just select material wood and your block is wood based.
I mean like make it so you can craft sticks and tools and stuff with it. Changing the material to wood just makes it smeltable.
I'd like to be able to have my wood variant work with all vanilla and modded recipes that need planks or logs.
But you can make crafting recipes...
I see you are new on MCreator...
You can make smelting recipes... and make charcoal.
But... you wanted to do this in MCreator 1.8.3?
I have 1.7.6 and 1.8.3...
But I will help.
1. I reply Klemen's message and do this what I replied.
2. Make a biome and add this block to the tree as a log.
3. Make crafting recipes: recipe for planks, recipe for stick, for crafting table etc.
4. Make smelting recipes: recipe for charcoal and other smelting recipes you can use with wood in vanilla Minecraft.
5. Before making a crafting recipe for planks, you need to add planks that are made from your wood.
6. And you need to add a tree and leaves for this tree!
Or I don't replied XD
What about modded recipes? Mods like Biomes O Plenty and other mods that add new wood variants have wood that can work with any recipe, modded included. Would like to do that.
