Which model file do I need to use in order to create a custom 3d model armor?

So I know that it is possible to create 3d model armor now but I don't know which model file (.json, .java, etc...) do I need in order to create a custom 3d model armor, can you guys help me? Sorry if someone asked this question already. As always, I'm very much appreciated if you guys help me!
