How can I leash a custom entity to another?

Hello people!

For the mod I am currently working on, I am making a type of wandering trader. Both the trader and his animals are custom mobs. I wanted to ask how it would be possible to leash 2 custom mobs to another mob. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
