I'm making a boss that's supposed to be a freaky Frankenstein's Monster sort of creature made by the Illagers. It's supposed to look like dozens of different body parts from various different mobs all mashed together to form a terrifying amalgamation. I made two textures for it, one being cleaner and a little easier on the eyes, whilst for the other I added multiple scars and stitches to add to the idea that this boss was messily stitched together by some mad scientists. I like them both, but I'm not sure which would be better, so I was hoping to get some feedback!
Here's the clean texture:
And here's the scarred texture:
Both look just as good! What I was thinking is that maybe the clean texture could be it's phase 1 and the scarred could be it's phase 2.
Both look great; the first one looks a bit more "minecrafty" and not so violent, but cool too
One thought I had (love these BTW) maybe doing a blanket slightly dull grey and adding it across the board to the colors could help the pallet look a little more cohesive and also imply that the subjects used for the monster were dead.
Idea; Use the clean texture as the normal texture, and when the HP is low, use the scarred texture.
Love the idea that others had where you have the clean texture be default and it switching to the scarred texture after it gets below half health or something similar
i like the 2nd one better
