Custom model not always rendering bottom texture
Sun, 02/18/2024 - 09:05 (edited)

I've made a custom table model for a block in Blockbench, and for the most part successfully implemented it. However, if (and only if) there is a block below the table, its bottom texture will not render. I presume this is how solid blocks work since they are fully covered, but in this case the lack of rendering is fairly obvious from certain angles. I've tried changing the texture transparency type and none of the options change anything. Is there a way to make sure the bottom renders in all cases?

Here's a demonstration screenshot - the table to the left is in the air and renders fine, but the one on the right on top of a block is borked:

I haven't looked into this…

I haven't looked into this in a long time, so I can't remember the details, but I know that in the model's file is a line of code that tells it to not render certain faces of the model if there is a block touching them. If you found and changed that line of code, it would stop that bug, or the behavior for detecting when to enable/disable that could be changed in a future Blockbench update. This is not on MCreator's end at all, it is purely to do with the model itself when it is exported from Blockbench, but if you find the code inside the model that allows you to disable the lack of rendering, I think it is called something like cullfaces, or possibly cull faces, you could change it yourself. There is also a good chance that the system in Blockbench that automatically enables it will be changed at some point in a future update.
