Trying to make a crafting recipie with a remainder

please help

I am trying to make a recipie in the crafting table where crying obsidian is crafted into a tear, which works fine, but I'm also trying to have the crying obsidian replaced with a regular obsidian once the tear has been crafted, like a milk bucket turns into a regular bucket when you make cake with it. Is there a way to do this? I don't want to have to make a whole new UI or item just for this one recipe. I know that there is an option to make a custom item have a crafting remainder, but I cant figure it out for vanilla ones.
