I remember a while ago you could place item frames on custom made stairs and slabs, but after one of the updates you can't, while you can do this with vanilla stairs/slabs just fine.
This does appear to be a bug as far I could tell
Yeah because I have been working on a mod for a couple of years, and I made structures with custom stairs and item frames on them, and after one of the updates I couldn't place item frames on those stairs and in that structure I made the Items frames would break even though I never changed any of the stairs code
