Should I use big "On player tick update" or smaller "When item in hand tick"?

Should I use big "On player tick update" or smaller "When item in hand tick"?

So I'm trying to make a full-auto weapon, and it seems that running a complex procedure using trigger "On player tick update" seems more stable and less laggy than running  a small "when item in hand tick" procedure, and I do not know why. Could somebody tell me, shat should I use and what i shouldn't?
