New attribute procedures seemingly don't serve their purpose

The new attribute procedures were interesting and helpful, until I realized I could only modify the base attribute(s) of an entity, NOT the current ones. So my custom dodge attribute is infinite if I apply it to anything, because it cannot be decreased via procedures. Basically, I am very annoyed that I cannot set the CURRENT attribute of an entity to something, and only the base/natural attribute, because for the attributes I am making, I need to change the attribute each time it is accessed. Why can't I edit the current attribute values of an entity?
