"Watch closest entity" AI task not consistently working

hello! this is my first time posting here so let me know if i mess anything up

i want to make a passive mob that stares at you wherever you are. i'm new to mcreator and coding in general so i just used the preset command (as seen below). however, this only works some of the time. sometimes it works well and it'll stare at me even when i sprint around it! but seemingly randomly, it'll just stare off into space for a few seconds. is there a way to fix this?

Image ID begin. Screenshot from MCreator's "AI and goals" section under mob editor. The category reads "AI task / goals list - Tasks higher on the list have a higher priority" and underneath it is "Watch the closest entity of type Player in radius 10000, Conditions: None." End ID.

Yeah that's just how that AI goal works, it's like any other mob, it will look at you for a bit and then look away, and repeat.
