Having some issues with 2024.4 models.
Java block models made with blockbench work ok. They render correctly but if you try to place the custom 3d block with a procedure it refuses to place it. You can probably bypass this using structures, so it isn't a real issue.
However, animated 3d models are totally broken. Using GeckoLib on MCreator and blockbench and getting a .geo.json animated model used to work perfectly every time in older versions of MCreator. But in 2024.4 MCreator completely refuses to acknowledge .json files. When you select 'import .json model' in resources it shows available .json files like it should. But trying to import one does nothing-- the model never appears, is never added to the workspace files, and you don't even get any errors back. It is like you never tried to add it in the first place. I've tried renaming anything and everything, exporting them without animations, and even manually adding the .json files into the MCreator workspace files, but none of these options makes the model appear in resources, and none even produce an error. Its like .json files just don't exist anymore.
I gave up on GeckoLib and tried to use the blockbench 'Modded Entity' project option, which is supposed to be the version officially supported by MCreator without any plugins, and that worked fine in blockbench-- but when I tried to import it into MCreator, it just gave me syntax errors or renamed the file to unknown model or unknown animation. I checked the MCreator guide again and am using the correct mojmap settings and everything.
I might be doing the 'Modded Entity' version wrong, so please let me know. But regardless it seems a bit strange for MCreator to completely refuse the use of .json files.
This sounds like a bug of the plugin that provides animated entity, namely geckolib plugin.
So if you think they introduced a bug in the latest version, I recommend opening a bug report with the plugin author
