How to add custom code

I want to add more functionality for my Animal Bikes Revival mod im working on. I use MCreator only to set up the Forge project for me and add Basic stuff to save time. I know some java enough to make a mod. Would it be possible to add modded stuff thought folder on File Explorer with some IDE or Visual Studio Code.
