I want to force player to eat something that is in main hand

Hello im making an addon to another mod and there is an item in that mod that when players eat that they become demon

I want to make players demon when they died 3 times. i dont know if i can access the mod itself to trigger that so i thought the best way is that when they died 3 times get that item in their hand and eat to be demon by force
