Yo-Yo Suggestions?

So, I want to make a Yo-Yo, similar to those in Terraria, but slightly different. I was thinking the yo-yo gets sent out of your hand (no string, so more of a rogue projectile), spins in the air 4 blocks in front of you, and damages any enemy's that enter its range before it comes back to you. Is there any way to do this? (With a 2D projectile.)
