How do I make my mob disable shields? (2025.3)

Hello, I would like to know how I could make my custom mob disable shields.

Now I know I could just give it an axe in its equipment, but I don't want to do that, because in my custom model for the mob, it is holding a different weapon, and I don't want to make it drop an axe. 

Is there any other way I could get my custom mob to disable shields?
