.java model importing issues

I've been working on a new mod and importing some custom .java models for my entities. Today when I tried to import my second java model it didn't create a new model name in the resources tab, instead it took the same model name "ModelCustomModel" and refused to create a second model. I also tried editing the java code for the model registry name and that didn't work either even after reimporting several times. For reference my current workspace version is 2026.1 and no errors show up during importing. And only one of the models will appear for the entity model selection. Anybody happen to know what is going on here?
