Glowing model layer makes entity pure white

I tried setting up a glowing model layer so that my knight guy's eyes could glow, but it's just making the textures pure white?

A Minecraft screenshot of two knights with pure white, glowing textures.

I thought maybe glowing model layers don't support transparency, but then I set the still glowing layer to the default texture and the transparency's fine!

The same knights, but with regular textures that glow normally.

For context, here's what the glowing texture looks like. Am I doing something wrong here?

A tiny, mostly transparent image with three cyan dots scattered about.

I'm using MCreator version…

I'm using MCreator version 2025.3 and MC version 1.21.1 with no plugins, however I think I found the issue. It turns out the glow texture seems to expect non-glowing parts to be pitch black instead of transparent! Putting black in the faces the glowing parts are on seems to have fixed it, though I assume it'd be safe to cover the whole texture as it looks to be treating any fully black parts as transparent.
