I had the same problem. After installing it, MCreator failed to "Setting up Minecraft Forge MDK". I precise that I have installed MCreator 1.7.1 for Minecraft 1.10.2. It didn't worked.
So I decided to install an other version of MCreator, the 1.7.5 for Minecraft 1.11.2. AND IT WORKED !
Maybe this bug is on some MCreator versions or you should probably take more attention of the 32 or 64 bits. I took the 32 bits for the 1.7.1 (but my computer runs in 64) and the 64 bits for the 1.7.5.

@#3 Yeah, don't use 32 bit if your computer is 64 bit (this applies to any program, not just MCreator) or you'll have RAM issues.
I had the same problem. I just restarted my computer and opened mcreator again then it worked.
