My ore block isn't working and i cant get the armor to work

I created a block of ore that you mine and then smelt to get an ore, but when i was testing it the block was pink and black and when i mined it with a iron pickaxe it didn't drop. I've been looking through every topic on this website with no help. I also wanted to make armor, i did everything but for somereason when i upload the armor it keeps asking for the texture name, i cant type anything either, please help thanks.
