Any idea how to make a mob avoid 2 or more players?

Hi, I'm trying to make a mob to avoid 2 or more players in close proximity (for example 5 blocks). If a player is alone, then mob attacks. I'm fairly new to java and modding in Minecraft. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately mob AIs aren't as advanced as procedures :(
