Hey, all.
Yknow, I've been trying to figure this out myself and I just recently learned how, so I might as well share it with those of you still struggling with making a recipe for a portal igniter.
Some of the steps are obvious but I'll tell you anyway:
- First of all, you need your dimension. Set the biomes, blocks, igniter, etc and take note of the module name.
- Add a recipe.
- To find the igniter, look in "Custom elements". Believe it or not, that portal thing is the igniter!
- Set it as the output and make the recipe as normal.
Bam, you now have a recipe for the portal igniter! Hope it helped!
It's really weird how that's the preview of the igniter, it's not very pronounced if you ask me. For some reason, it doesn't appear in "Items" either.
Thanks! This helped so much! :D
This really helped me make me advance in my mod
Thank you so much! This helped me a ton!
Where is "custom elements"?
Button in item/block selector that filters blocks/items to only show the ones you made (custom ones).
I am kind of a noob at mod making so i was wondering if U could tell me where the special elements is? PLZ
Dude, you are a life-saver!!! Thank you so much!
Thanks you so much! Been wondering where the igniter item was and why there was a portal XD tysm!
Many thanks this really helped with my mod!
Thank you!
Bloody Legend!
THANKS BRO!!!!!!
This was a great post, and should have been totally necessary. Unfortunately this could very easily be resolved with a tooltip because its really not obvious inside the software. So to the OP, thank you for posting this for the benefit of the community.
Here's a screenshot for anyone who's interested. Note: Don't forget you have to have already created your "item" that is going to be the tool / widget that you can activate the portal with. When you created your portal, you had the option to specify the "skin" for the item that will be used to activate the portal. The software "automagically" takes that item and applies a background to that tool / item that matches whatever you selected for your portals "fire" and that's what shows up in the Creative Menu.
So in my case, I used a starry background style "effect" for the "portal activated" effect. So, after I selected the skin for my "wand" the tool automatically puts that background onto the Item within the custom tab of the MCreator app. (see attachment.)
When you go in to create your recipe and select the "output item" you'll likely see (2) matching items. One of them is the actual object for the item you constructed to be the "portal activation tool"; the other is the placeholder object for the item that will actually activate the portal (the skin you specified inside portal config).
When making this recipe, make sure to select the one that has the portal background on it as your output item. Otherwise you'll end up crafting an item that looks just like your portal activation item, but doesn't actually trigger the portal to work.
For some strange reason the link to the screenshot didn't show up. So, here's a link to it.
