Floating trees

I looked on other threads about this and I saw something about creating a block that spawns for the trees but I don't really understand it.

Basically the trees are randomly just floating when hills start or even an increase in height.

Is there any alternative way to fix floating tree structure spawns or is there an explanation on the useless block?
