I need coders who know how to code fishing in my 1.12.2 mod for a modpack

I have a modpack on Curseforge called "Raft" inspired by the game of the same name. The modpack is for 1.12.2. I want to make a mod for it that adds barrels as an item that can give you stuff you could otherwise not obtain in the world of vast ocean you spawn in. I've tried to do it but the loot table option in MCreator doesn't work in 1.12.2 for fishing. I do know that it's possible by coding which I do not know how to do.
