Crop Growth Procedure Not working

I followed a crop growth procedure according to NorthWestTree's most recent tutorial. I altered the UpdateTick code slightly, so as to match my crop, which only has 4 growth states. 

Everything before "else if not is provided world remote (client-side)" works fine, but the code after that seems not to work. The crop just doesn't change growth stages.

Is there an issue with the code? Minecraft version it's being programmed for is 1.15.2 if that's relevant.
